Visit the Park

There is a lot to see here at the park. The buildings are open to tour and learn how the furnace made pig iron back in the mid-1800s and how important it was to the civil war. There are many information plaques for a self-guided tour. Be sure to wear walking shoes and dress for the weather.

Museum and
Gift Shop

The museum and gift shop are located in the original Office and Store. It has many items and artifacts from when the furnace was running in the mid-1800s.

The gift shop has many handmade items from local makers and a variety of fun souvenirs. 

​

There also is a video room where you can watch an informative video about working and living at the furnace.

School Visits

If you are an educator and would like to bring your class on a guided tour, please call 740-384-3537 to let us schedule a date and a tour guide for you at a reduced cost. We also have a variety of educational handouts for everyone. There is parking for buses available.

The Park

The park has a beautiful area that is perfect for picnics and family gatherings. There is plenty of parking, 6 picnic tables, grills for cooking, a port-a-potty and plenty of room for the kids to play. The park is open during daylight hours. Open fires are not allowed.

Family Events

If you are looking for an outdoor venue for your wedding or large family gathering, the top of the hill is a perfect place. The woodshed, with its soaring roof, is picture-perfect.

Picnic tables are available upon request.

There is no running water or electricity.
